Comedy Writer. Mother. Self-Medicator.

I spent longer putting my kids to bed than I did getting to know some of the guys I slept with in college.

Hey there, I’m Anna.

A self-described “comedy writer, mother, self-medicator,” I spent 10 years as a touring stand-up comedian before transitioning to a career as a TV writer.

When I’m not writing TV pilots or helping people who don’t know how to write jokes seem funnier than they really are, I work as the Parenting Editor for a division of USA Today. I produce service journalism pieces about subjects as diverse as how to keep your kids busy while you’re trying to work from home, to how to make sure your kids don’t find your secret stash of ‘shrooms.

I’ve completed a number of original pilots, and I co-wrote and produced a reality pilot called Women’s Work, a humorous DIY-style show starring a girly girl and a tomboy who teach women how to do things themselves, “so they don’t have to rely on men—unless they want to.”

I hold a B.F.A. in drama from New York University, where I had the clichéd experience of a freshman year roommate who worked as a hooker out of our dorm room. Yes, I think she charged more because I was sleeping five feet away and no, I did not join in.

I currently live in Los Angeles with my husband, an entrepreneur, and my two children. I’m an advocate for women and mothers who have stories to tell, and I believe that Hollywood has a place for stories by and about women. I still wear a lot of black and refuse to wait for a walk signal.
